The Economical Champion for Combined Corrosion & Abrasion
The Rubber-Lined Fan is a time-tested, cost-effective specialized fan designed to perform reliably in punishing environments where corrosion and abrasion occur simultaneously. Its proven "steel structure with rubber lining" concept involves bonding a resilient rubber layer to a carbon steel or cast iron casing and impeller. This product is particularly well suited for handling slurries, mist-laden gases, salt sprays, and exhaust streams containing abrasive particulate matter-conditions commonly encountered in mineral processing, flue gas desulfurization, and chemical processing. It delivers excellent service life and value, providing protection that purely metallic or plastic fans often cannot achieve under such combined exposure.
Superior Protection Through Specialized Lining & Craftsmanship
The performance of a rubber-lined fan depends largely on the quality of the lining material and the application process. Different rubber compounds are selected according to service conditions: natural soft rubber for abrasion-dominated duties, butyl rubber for superior acid and alkali resistance, neoprene for exposure to oils and solvents, or specialized wear-resistant formulations reinforced with hard fillers. The lining process is highly controlled and includes surface preparation, adhesive application, rubber sheet placement, and final vulcanization in an autoclave to form a seamless, monolithic bond. Lining thickness is customized, with additional reinforcement applied in high-wear zones such as leading edges. This careful construction ensures that the fan retains its aerodynamic performance and protective properties throughout an extended service life.
Proven Reliability in Tough Industrial Service
In non-ferrous metal smelting operations and sulfuric acid plants, the product plays a critical role in conveying cooled-but still highly aggressive-process gases containing SO₂, SO₃, acid mist, and dust. In these systems, a large rubber-lined fan typically serves as the induced draft fan, handling this corrosive and abrasive mixture. The butyl rubber lining effectively resists dilute sulfuric acid and sulfur oxides, while its elastic surface minimizes damage from impacting dust particles. Compared with solid alloy fans, products can achieve comparable service life under these conditions at a significantly lower capital cost, making them a proven and economical solution for durable gas handling in harsh industrial environments.
